Lessons Learned

A Few Basics

how is lessons learned different?

1. small on purpose

Lessons Learned is an invite-only event with curated speakers and audience members. The small size of the group means that you get a chance to interact with one another in a deeper way.

2. story-based

When was the last time you saw a riveting PowerPoint slide deck? Probably never. Similarly, there is a lot of career advice out there, but it's a slim chance that you'll remember it in your moment of need. Hearing a personal story told live though--that advice gets seared into your memory. Lessons Learned creates a safe space where smart people share insights via an example of something that actually happened to them. Lessons Learned stories are 90% narrative, 10% takeaway. Speakers focus on one specific, concrete story and use the idea of "show not tell." These are stories, not bullet points or lectures.

3. peer-driven

Many conferences feature C-level executives or famous people on stage. But Lessons Learned is about learning from peers. We believe that peers are under-utilized resources and that you should be open to learning from people regardless of their title.
